Adam Smith on Government and Schooling

B

Scott Drylie is an assistant professor at the Airforce Institute of Technology in Dayton Ohio. In this conversation with Dan Klein (GMU), Drylie discusses his recent work on Adam Smith ideas about schooling and the government’s role in providing education. His work, derived from a PhD thesis completed with Dan Klein at George Mason University, challenges the orthodox interpretation of Smith, seeing him as less favourable to government involvement in schooling than what is commonly stated in the secondary literature.
